Domestic violence is the act of violence or willful neglect within a family. It is the emotional, psychological, physical, sexual, or economic abuse that one person in an intimate relationship uses in order to control the other.
According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the aforementioned types of abuse are primarily a learned behavior whose effects, without intervention, become more destructive over time. Domestic violence usually continues over a long period of time and gets more frequent and severe over time.
Unfortunately, this matter has become prevalent in the Middle Eastern / South Asian community. More often than not, victims have no where to turn due to language barriers and cultural restraints.
The agency’s mission is to strengthen and preserve the family unit through intervention and education. We endeavor to empower each member of the family and strive to provide a range of services to ensure successful attainment of our mission. All services are provided to anyone/everyone free of charge and in complete confidence irrespective of their ethnicity, socio-economic background, gender or creed.
