Position Title: Director

The women against Family abuse (W.A.F.A) organization is seeking a full time director with experience in non-profit management and development while serving domestic violence victims and their advocates with resources and support.

Position Summary:

The director is responsible for the administration and management of W.A.F.A's organization's domestic violence program. This is a full time position to be selected by the Board of Trustees while working closely with the staff at WAFA to fulfill the organizations' resources and personnel needs. This is a senior management position and previous management experience is required.

Responsibilities:

Administration:

  • Participation in conferences, meetings, workshops, and other undertakings for the purpose of developing resources to aid and serve domestic violence victims.
  • Grant solicitation and management.
  • Individual donor solicitation.
  • Fundraising strategy development and coordination.

    Personnel:
  • Recruit, hire, and train organization's staff
  • Supervision of all organization's staff
  • Provide leadership to staff that will set a standard of professional excellence that reflects the philosophy and purpose of the organization.
  • Provide staff and victims with professional development and other training opportunities.

    Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field.
  • Proficiency in management of a non-profit organization / social service agency.
  • Excellent public speaking skills and leadership qualities.
  • Fluency in Arabic or South Asian language(s) a plus.

    Position Title: Domestic Violence Counselor/Case Manager

    Woman Against Family Abuse (WAFA) is seeking a full time Counselor/Case Manager to oversee clinical case management and intervention for victims of domestic violence. The position entails conducting intakes, screening, assessment, safety planning and referral of domestic violence clients as appropriate. Offer domestic violence education programs and prevention services. Work with clients to establish an individual treatment plan and monitor progress.

    Responsibilities:

  • Interview domestic violence victim’s assessment of needs and strengths
  • Develop client contract
  • Provide crisis intervention related to domestic violence
  • Provide accurate information and referral
  • Provide domestic violence education and counseling
  • Develop safety plan including danger assessment
  • Provide court accompaniment to domestic violence victims
  • Provide oral and written information on local resources
  • Report and track statistical information to the organization on a monthly basis

    Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Work or related field degree preferred, prior experience/training in a Domestic Violence Program preferred
  • Ability to perform accurate assessment of the client's presenting problem and to plan effective treatment for that problem
  • Knowledge of standard documentation requirements for clinical casework
  • Ability to intervene in crisis situations, using sound professional judgment, ethical practice and common sense
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication skills
  • Fluency in the Arabic Language
