With no furniture, no reliable utilities, and no support system, she made the heartbreaking decision to temporarily leave her child in the care of the other parent while she searched for housing

This sister’s story is one of pride, determination, and strength. Her story begins when she and her children were abandoned by her abusive and alcoholic husband. She was left with her kids, who all desperately needed support. She did not speak English, had no way to earn money, and was evicted from her home, leaving her with all her valuables scattered on the street. When this sister came to Wafa House, our entire team worked tirelessly to help her regain stability and rebui
